Ok, my last post actually was not completely flawless, that method has been giving me some issues, so I found these instructions instead:
- Open Terminal
sudo apt-get install ndisgtk
- Download the Windows drivers (I’ve only tested it with the XP drivers)
- Open System>Administration>Windows Wireless Drivers
- Select the .inf file from the unzipped folder you downloaded in step 3
That method worked perfectly for me, and has lasted through numerous reboots, unlike the previous way. I’ve only tested it with a WPA Personal network, no idea if it works with WEP or WPA2. If it doesn’t work, try rebooting…And you might want to install wpa_supplicant if you’re going to use WPA, but I’m not sure if that’s necessary.

I just installed Ubuntu 8.04 on my Toshiba Satellite A215-S7427. So far it seems like an upgrade from Vista, the only problem is that I can’t get the wireless to work. My computer has a Realtek integrated wireless and uses the AMD M690V chipset. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. P.S.- I’m completely new to Linux
thanks a lot! that really helped me. i was trying to figure out how to get my wireless connection working for over 5 hours. you saved me. i am very happy.
HOW DO YOU FUCKING INSTALL SOMETHING FROM THE INTERNET IF THE GOAL IS TO GET, THATS RIGHT, GET INTERNET?!?!?!?! IDIOT
Jesus christ, man. Calm down. I didn’t explain this in the post, but you need to have your computer connected to the internet in some other way for this to work (like ethernet). Use a non-mobile internet connection temporarily, and then once this is working, switch to WiFi.
